Fall Leaves

Posted on December 12, 2020

What you can do

Earlier this season, the leaves were delightful. But now that they are out of the trees and on lawns, driveways, and streets, they can be a problem, especially when they clog storm drains. If turf grass is important to you, then you can help both stream health and your lawn by chopping or mulching them with your lawn mower. This can be a great solution, just as long as they do not smother the grass.

Leaf Mulching

Leaves provide a natural and free source of nitrogen that can be used in your garden as well as your lawn. By shredding the leaves, you help them break down sooner and form a composting mulch.

There is also a County curbside yard trim collection program that ends January 15th 2020 and restarts April 1st 2021. For more information on it and other similar programs click this County provided link.

Assessments

We are not accepting requests for neighborhood and homeowner inspections while we limit personal contact to help minimize the impact of the Corona virus. We will resume when it is advisable; hopefully soon. Stay safe.

WSA Partnership Engages Students in Environmental Stewardship

WSA representatives will provide volunteers and support school efforts to apply for and maintain Green School designation.
