HoCo Stream Wader Info ’19

Sample Stream DataA number of Stewards and local concerned citizens participate in the Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Stream Waders program. The Stream Waders sample sites for use in stream quality assessments.
Download Click this button to get a .zip file of the latest local Howard County 10 stream reports. These reports are paired with USGS data about the micro-watersheds where the samples were taken; so you can reference the stream’s sources.

Stream Waders also educate the local community about the relationship between land use and stream quality, provide quality assured information on stream quality to state, local, and federal agencies, environmental organizations, and others. The goal is to improve stream stewardship ethics and encourage local action to improve watershed management.

Good presentation today and great job on your report; however, I worry that for Howard County Columbia is the only area taken seriously in this project.

      Hello Barbara,
Thanks for attending and for the kind words. This group of Stream Waders serves the whole of the county. In order to do stream surveys we need permission to be on the land and although we monitor a couple of streams outside Columbia, CA permission and cooperation is most helpful. It’s is especially useful when we monitor streams where there’s been an HOA partnership with WSA like that in Kings Contrivance. If you would like to work with the Stream Waders, please let us know with an email to HowardWSA@gmail.com.
